Trial Begins for Man Charged in Fatal Lexington Hit and Run

The trial against Angel Mejia, the suspect in a fatal Lexington hit-and-run accident, began on Friday, July 18.

According to preliminary police investigations, Mejia swerved across three lanes of traffic on Interstate 64 this past June, striking 68-year-old Wanda Beach’s truck. Wanda suffered fatal injuries from the impact.

Mejia then left the scene of the accident, only to be found by police detectives hiding near the accident site. The police cited alcohol as the primary contributing factor to the accident.
