Employee Dies in Lexington Workplace Accident
An employee of Lexington, Kentucky-based fireplace store Tyson Stone International, Inc., also known as Tyson Granite and Stone, lost his life after a slab of granite fell on him while he was working, WKYT reported on May 14.
According to Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts, the victim, who was not immediately identified by the police, was already dead when police, fire, and emergency crews arrived at the business and place of accident at just before 10:20 a.m.
Roberts noted that the employee had been trying to move, with the help of other people, a piece of granite that had been blocking the establishment when the workplace accident happened. Roberts did not or was unable to disclose whether the victim was driving or outside of a vehicle, and how many people were involved in the attempt to move the granite.
Investigators from the Kentucky Labor Cabinet arrived at the area the same afternoon to further investigate the fatal accident.
