Cincinnati Bridge Undergoing Demolition Collapses in Fatal Accident
During the construction of a new bridge, the new bridge collapsed and resulted in the death of a construction worker and injury of a semi-truck driver, according to a Cincinnati Enquirer article on January 20.
The accident occurred on I-75 when the Hobble Street overpass was undergoing demolition at 10:30 p.m. After the collapse, a semi-truck crashed into the rubble, resulting in the injury of the driver. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, although his injuries were not serious. As a result of the crash and debris, it was reported that this stretch of Southbound I-75 would be closed for at least two days.
Emergency crews worked to uncover the body of the fallen construction worker. The person’s identity was not revealed, as the family had not yet been notified.
